PRPL Fork Food Film Foto Fest focuses on the tasty, complex world of food, celebrating the passions of its people and diversity of its tastes, and examining the challenges, ideas, and opportunities faced. The Fest hopes to inspire our participants and viewers to be adventurous, explore and taste a new bite of life.

We welcome you on our journey. Our first edition is coming from the food city of Vancouver, Canada. With the uptick in Delta variant and our concern for your safety, we shifted gears and decided for our launch edition as a Fest to go virtual. This way you can sit back on your couch, on your patio or anywhere you have a screen and be safe while indulging in all of our tasty films. Though we are so appreciative of all the filmmakers, and everyone that has contributed to helping us launch, we decided (mutually) to let our sponsors get even bigger thanks next year when a bigger, in person Fest arrives in spring, our intended regular spot.

HOW TO FEST ON OUR FILMS

1. First: Look, Select, Buy.
2. Then: Watch Your Films and Enjoy Again until September 16th!!
3. The Price?
4. Only in Canada....But
5. Your Vote Counts!
6. Share What You Love @prplforkfest

The Details:

1. First: Look, Select, Buy. We always love great taste and great value! So look through our blocks of carefully grouped films, select your block and buy a ticket. One day passes and the best deal,  The Whole Fest Pass can be found on the tickets page. Individual tickets are purchased through each Block of Films.

2. Then: Watch Your Films and Enjoy Again until September 16th!!  An important part of your ticket is Video On Demand until a week after the Fest.
FYI, each Film block is hosted in a Virtual Theatre Screening at a set time. As people across Canada can watch too, we set the times for the virtual screening hosted on the BingeWave platform very early on (not intending for you to get up to watch.) Approx. 4 hours after the screening, you will have access to Viewing On Demand, hosted on the BingeWave platform. As we want you to enjoy as many films as possible, we've extended the time you can watch until a week after the Fest. Can't get that at a theatre!

**Please remember that after starting your film, it may take about a minute for the film to begin with a minute between films BingeWave confirms. So relax and turn the lights down low.

3. Pricing? We set prices to be reasonable, and provide you a whole evening (or afternoon...morning) of entertainment for one set price. Because of cross border stuff, exchange rates make our ticket prices "different". Please note you are charged Canadian $$, BingeWave uses the latest secure servers and payments are processed through internationally recognized company Stripe.

4. Only in Canada...But. While we'd love be able to have the whole world watch our Fest films, most have to be geotagged to Canada only for a number of reasons. However on September 7 we will have a "The World Is Invited" block of films that anyone in the world can purchase a ticket for. So if you have friends somewhere else, get them to come join the fun then!

5. This Vote Counts!! For each film please remember to vote! We'll be adding up your votes and you will decide the Fest Favourite and Best Cinematography. We already have our favourites but don't get to vote. You do. Gives you some good practice for later in the month, too! We wish we could recognize all the hard work and talent that goes into making each one of these amazing films by some amazingly talented women and men from around the world.

6. Share What You Love. We may be starting out small but appreciate all the support and shout outs you are happy to share! We strive to have as many people chew through these tasty movies and inspire them to take a bigger bite out of life too.

Happy watching and eating!

This intriguing look at two moments in Quebec's food history captures 1970s excess and 1990s shortages. As one of the oldest settled regions of Canada, Quebec is known as a pioneer in regional cuisine, quality local food producers and artisans from wild meats to cheeses, and a centre of fine restaurants. In 1976's short The Art of Eating, Québec’s then Chef of the year, now icon, Marcel Kretz prepares an elaborate feast for members of a gourmet dining club. 1991's Au chic resto pop feature looks at poverty in Montreal and the role a soup kitchen with a live soundtrack in helping locals. The modern viewer may be surprised at times how anachronistic things seem and at times how after 30 years we still are dealing with the same challenges. The viewer will have lots to chew on. The Fest thanks the assistance of globally respected The National Film Board of Canada for the opportunity to share these films with you on a complimentary basis.
