Adrenaline 24+1

Jaeik Kim  Korea  2021  5:55

Food on the table always has a rhythm of life and become with people. Since there are various stories and relationships in it, every day's repetitive daily life will be rewritten as memories and will always stimulate us. And our story, derived from this, will be ongoing. Because it's adrenaline that protects us all the time. This work collages images of multiple consecutive and fragmented memories into the frame, and expressed in audio-visual format.

This is a kind of Audio-Visual artworks, but you can watch and hear it separately from the audio or video. Static sounds are like the silent practice (默言修行: Meditating Silence) of Buddhism, and video has also the power to reveal life through relationships.

Meanwhile, our healthy dietary life, which results from the natural environment and our interrelationship with humans, can repeat good and bad at any time, so our adrenaline feeling towards food should not only evoke pleasant imagination but also feel the importance of life at the same time.

Director Statement

I'm working on a variety of visual arts projects based on a specific site/place/environments. That is, it’s based on something that can provide people with special experiences and share short moments of memories together.

History and private memories that originate from certain environments are mixed together in everyday life and would illuminate our lives. In particular, I'm working on various public art projects based on this concept, and the local villagers are working together on the project base, breathing with them, and sometimes we're all working on installations that can represent individuals. As an extension of this, I'm working together media works (media art installation and video art). This is my major and I've been doing a lot of video art works until now.
