Multi-Screening: Solomon; Mama's Song

Film(s) To Be Screened

Mama's Song

Mama’s Song is the story of a son, Roland “Rolo” Williams, having to pick up the broken pieces of a family in crisis. His mother, Melinda Williams, has brought into the house her drug-dealing boyfriend and supplier, Juju Stan, to the dismay of her sons, Rolo and Nathan. Young Nathan has great potential and Rolo works desperately to be a good role model, keep his younger brother safe and academically motivated by walking him to school and talking to him about life. But their mother’s boyfriend is a constant source of dread in the house. And Nathan’s greatest fear is that Rolo will leave him like their father did before. Meanwhile, Rolo’s gangster friend, Base, is in conflict with another gangster in the street that eventually reaches its breaking point. Base needs Rolo’s help to hide all evidence of the bloody altercation by giving him a change of clothes and stashing the weapon Base used against his enemies. Everything comes to a head, today, on Rolo’s birthday.
