Film(s) To Be Screened

The Last Page of Summer

The film is a period piece which shows the sunny side of the 60s through the eyes of a local Sunshine Pop band who have songs on the radio, but have never broken out of the local scene. This starts out as a "day in the life" view of the band as they prepare for the biggest day of their career (a nationally televised gig at their local fairgrounds). Their carefree antics gradually become overshadowed by the Music Elitists, who are the worst parts of the 1970s personified and will take any measure to rid the world of all things "groovy". They creep in simultaneously with a literal approaching storm, at first being comically menacing, but giving a more frightening undertone as the film progresses.

The Divisible

As a newly elected Commander-in-Chief steps into office, things quickly begin to spiral out of control. He wages a policy war against many of the rights & freedoms that have protected the marginalized citizens of the United States. His flippant decisions and social mockery negatively impact our foreign relations. All of this causes a bubbling up of fear and hatred toward our fellow man, that many believed was long past. The country is subtly distracted by smokescreens, as tensions build into social chaos, and before they know it, they are manipulated into horrors of the past they never saw coming.

Glimmer

An unexpected encounter with one of Santa's elves catalyzes a change in perspective for a young girl whose mother has just died. The film acts as a reminder that a chance meeting, no matter how brief, can realign us with the universal energy of hope.

Stuntbot

A tenacious female film Director makes her biggest career move yet in what is sure to be an Oscar-winning feature. Sparing no expense she demands it be shot on 70mm film and that stunts be performed using the innovative new "Stuntbot" robots. Alas a reel of film containing an irreplaceable dramatic moment is destroyed in a fire. She needs that scene and her pain-in-the-butt male lead refuses a re-shoot. Failure is not an option, the film must be completed. What can be done? Well... I mean... those are some pretty human-looking stuntbots...

The Roads Most Traveled

Internationally recognized for his commitment to photographing the migration of Central Americans to the United States, Bartletti’s images reveal the never ending saga of illegal immigration by individuals desperate to improve their lives.

The Cinch

The Cinch is an eight minute observational slice-of-life documentary film about growing up on a ranch, how that fits into today’s society, and how the lifestyle prepares young boys for life. The film is shot over the course of one year. We track our hero, Cinch, as he learns to mount a horse on his own. Mounting a horse ‘solo’ is a right of passage for a ranching family. For Cinch, it’s a lesson from his father that can be applied to many aspects of his life. This is a coming of age story in a small sliver of life that is often forgotten about in the rural midwest.

Interloper

David Murdoch is a Searcher: a government-sanctioned bounty hunter from a future dystopia. His mission is to travel back in time to present-day Los Angeles and capture a fugitive hiding in the past. Once he meets his target, he begins to question his orders and his future.

The Distance

Across time and space, an unlikely romance forms between two star crossed lovers, each trapped in a quantum bubble of isolation. When Manny, a sarcastic video blogger wakes to find himself in Quantum Isolation, his only companion is Heather, a vibrant single mother who can only communicate via video chat. Through their communications, we see the joy of love in bloom, and despair as that love is tested. Can Manny and Heather make it through this isolation... or will they remain... THE DISTANCED.
