Khanya receives her period and makes the decision to enter the arena, when she is caught by her father, the true confines of their delicate relationship come to light.


The Call

The Call | Narrative Short | 10 minutes / 2019 | Directors: Iban Bester, Zinhle Zulu | Country: South Africa | The story begins in the past when a young Zulu woman named Thina is at her lobola ceremony (Zulu marriage ceremony) being promised to her husband. The narrative cuts to the present tense at a house party where we see Thina and her fiancé Jade dancing together. We come to realize through flashbacks that Thina ran away from her lobola and has not told her family/father about Jade and that she is gay.


The Golden Record
