TINA ANDREWS is an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, producer, and director. She wrote and Executive Produced the award-winning CBS miniseries, Sally Hemings: An American Scandal which was the highest rated, most watched miniseries of the season garnering Miss Andrews the Writers Guild of America Award for “Outstanding Television Long Form,” and the NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding TV Movie, Miniseries or Special.” Her nonfiction book, Sally Hemings: An American Scandal, won the NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Achievement in Literary Nonfiction”Miss Andrews was also writer and Executive Producer of the CBS miniseries, Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis; and she wrote the Warner Bros. film, Why Do Fools Fall in Love starring Halle Berry. After attending NYU where she majored in theater, Andrews performed as an actress in over 100 film and television roles including her pivotal role as Valerie Grant on Days of our Lives in daytime television’s first interracial romance. Her role of Kunta Kinte’s friend in the acclaimed miniseries Roots led to an incredible collaboration with her literary mentor, author Alex Haley on the PBS series: Alex Haley’s Great Men of African Descent.

Currently, Andrews has three projects in development including one on Dr. Martin Luther King. Her novel Charlotte Sophia: Myth, Madness and the Moor, about the life of British Queen Charlotte, who was a woman of color, was adapted into the play Buckingham and both have been optioned by HBO Max International for a television series on which Miss Andrews will serve as Executive Produce/Creator/writer, and direct episodes.
