A stark, experimental film. A mood. Exploring our fears of Armageddon, our lived isolation, and the haunting beauty of nature's persistence.
"Stories of Resurrection" is a short trilogy on the theme of "Dying and Freedom”, of “Wounds and Wonders”: "The Dolphin of Delphi" tells an idiosyncratic myth of the emergence of the Oracle of Delphi from the death throes of a dolphin and its child against the attack of an orca. "Thanatos Fantasia" depicts the release of the Phoenix through the cremation of a pianoforte. Moreover, "Calliope's Last Songs" shows the beauty at the end of an old woman's life through her own songs.

Epistolary experiment in presenting fractured consciousness as a complex partial seizure (in which one stays awake but in an altered state) blurs life spontaneously. in dystopian, claustrophobic toronto, “foreign ages” is a young woman’s quick clip at a life interrupted. super 8mm and digital action and music, synced through collages, capture the experience of recognizing oneself despite potent fear in active neurological events. This type of seizure can cause extreme déjà vu as well as jamais vu: inability to recognize what is familiar to you. The film depicts experiences of a seizure from the inside rather than the outside.
An exploration of sounds and images recorded throughout November 2020, edited according to chance operations. I made 30 individual visual pieces, one every day of the month each 30 seconds, and 4 longer audio pieces, one every week, trying to incorporate as many different ideas and approaches as I could. Finally, at the end of the month I combined al of the segments in a randomised order.
A transcendental fable.
"To honor the memory of his father who passed away in 2019, Martin Del Carpio opts for the medium of film once again, and delivers his most lyrical work to date. At once deeply personal, carefully veiled in a delicate fabric of pure emotions, and absolutely immersive in its dreamlike, mysterious beauty, ‘The Dark Forest’ transmutes its author’s innermost life into an admirable piece of introspective cinema. Opening with Dante Alighieri’s quote which inspired the title, it takes the viewer on a short, yet transcendent journey through the bushes of symbols and trees of thoughts, in the company of a lovely (and cunning?) forest spirit embodied by Carly Erin O’Neil whose poise and grace translate as otherworldly. The enchanting imagery that we see on our way is the result of another tight-knit collaboration between writer / director Del Carpio and DoP / editor William Murray, whereby the dense atmosphere of meditative seclusion is complemented by Dan Shaked’s ruminative voice-over and M. Nomized’s haunting score which occasionally gives off some strong ‘classic Hollywood’ vibes..." - Reviewed by Nikola Gocic

A cine-poem. Pandora, (Greek: “All-Gifts”) the first mortal woman molded of earth and water in Greek mythology. Bestowed with the Olympian gods’ largesse, she nevertheless, was punished for her gift of curiosity - in turn humankind was punished along with her - opening the box unleashed evil into the world, only hope remained inside the jar/box.

Inspired by educational filmstrips and slideshows of the 1970s and 80s, Lithium Nuke Magick is a lo-fi-sci-fi experimental collage narrative about the chemical element Lithium and its place in the universe. Follow the subaudible tone as each slide beams you back to the atomic age, and learn about the hidden history of this rare and unstable component, and its relationship with science, medicine and the occult. Created by elusive underground artist Psycho Gnostic, Lithium Nuke Magick originally premiered as a 35mm carousel slideshow as part of the “New Experimental Works” series at the legendary Other Cinema in San Francisco, California. A psychotronic tribute to synchronicity and obsolete media . . . and it’s all true.
