The plot

SINGH the short film tells the story that occurred in May of 2007 when Gurinder Singh Khalsa (a Sikh man who wears a turban) was not allowed to board an airline without the removal of his turban to be further inspected by TSA agents. In this emotional roller coaster of a short film, Gurinder is made to choose between his religious beliefs, and his flight to go visit his dying mother in her last days.Director Biography - Jenna Ruiz

Jenna Ruiz is an 18-year-old writer, director, and actor from Indianapolis, Indiana. She started working in the film industry when she was 9 years old, and has had a passion for being in front of and behind the camera ever since. Along with this, she is also a student at Indiana University- Purdue University Indianapolis, and is majoring in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Her directorial debut, SINGH, is set to release in early 2019.

Director Statement

"It is an honor to be able to showcase a moment in history that led to change in our TSA (Transportation Security Administration) Policy regarding the removal of headgear," said Ruiz. "However, it's more than that; it's one man's real-life story that will shed light on the true vulnerability and fear that comes with being racially profiled - this film will allow viewers to experience firsthand what it is like to be made to choose between religious beliefs and everyday life."
