The plot

Remember who you are | Narrative short | 4 minutes / 2020 | Director: Asiko | Country: United Kingdom | The short explores self-actualization and it’s intersection with post-colonial African culture. It’s an exploration into defiance and gender subversion against the patriarchy societal structures in Nigerian, where women are not allowed to participate in Egun masquerade rituals. In the narrative our protagonist Oya discovers herself and manifests her power in the space she inhabits. The story is about her liberation and discovering her true self.
