Bakemono

The plot

"Bakemono" is a short horror film inspired by Sumire's upbringing in a Japanese-American household, where her parents would scare her into finishing her food. While the myth of the "bakemono" is well known in Japan, we have concocted a wholly original narrative that is equal parts campfire story and cautionary tale. We hope the film frightens and entertains, but we did our due diligence to capture an authentic Japanese-American household where two languages are spoken and Japanese traditions are observed.
