He sits there staring at the chessboard contemplating the black and white pieces as he projects his inner struggles onto the chess game. Black and white, two great forces representing the dark and light aspects within him which are constantly battling each other. The black and white pieces transform into characters that look like him incarnating his polarities. His inner battle is seen abstractly through the game.

This makes him too poor and homeless but the people he has helped come to his rescue.
